What is the process of policy cancellation? What is required for cancelling a mandatory Third-Party (TP) only policy?

The insured has to reach us through the branch and apply for policy cancellation with a proper reason for cancellation. Immediately the request will be processed and the Own Damage (OD) part of the policy will be cancelled with an applicable refund. Since the TP-only policy is mandatory as per Section 146 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, it cannot be cancelled. Once the insured presents documents of the TP policy of the same vehicle from another insurer, the TP policy will be cancelled by us

Can I sell my two-wheeler to another person?

Yes, you can sell the two-wheeler to another person. As a process, we will change the name of the buyer through name transfer endorsement and the policy will be transferred to a new owner. The buyer has to apply for an insurance transfer in his name with us within 14 days from the vehicle transfer date

What is the tenure of Shriram Two-Wheeler Insurance policy?

Following are the types of Shriram Two-Wheeler Insurance policy period

  • 1 year, consisting of Own Damage cover for one year and Third-Party cover of 1 year (For Other Than New)
  • 2 years, consisting of Own Damage cover for two years and Third-Party cover of 2 years (For Other Than New)
  • 3 Years, consisting of Own Damage cover for three years and Third-Party cover of 3 years (For Other Than New)
  • 5 Years Long term bundled policy, consisting of Own Damage cover for one year and ThirdParty cover of 5 years (For New Only)

Your vehicle will be protected against theft, loss and damage under the Shriram Comprehensive Two-Wheeler Insurance policy. In the event of an accident, this coverage will also cover the owner's or rider's accidental expenses. It covers third-party liabilities and own damage losses as well

What is a Motor Protection add-on cover?

Any two-wheeler accident that occurs while using an insured vehicle will be covered by Shriram Two-Wheeler Insurance policy and you will be provided with an advocate to represent you in police proceedings and judicial proceedings

No, you cannot pay the premium in instalments. As per Section 64VB of the Insurance Act, 1938, no risk can be started unless the premium is received in advance

In case of an accident or theft, you should immediately contact the insurance provider about the occurrence and lodge a First Information Report (FIR) at the police station and raise a claim

It is now required to link Aadhaar with insurance plans, according to the insurance industry's regulatory body, IRDAI (Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India)

How much time does it take for my claim to get settled?

The Two-Wheeler Insurance claim will be processed within seven working days on receipt of all the relevant claim documents along with the original repair invoice & satisfaction voucher/discharge voucher & NEFT details
